Duluth, Minnesota (March 30, 2015) – To celebrate its two years of success, Superior Ballroom Dance, a renowned center for dance in Duluth, is having its 2nd Anniversary Gala this April 17th in the Harborside Room at DECC. The said show will be choreographed by world famous ballroom coach, Mariusz Olszewski, of So You Think You Can Dance, and will be open for public viewing.
Spectacular dance numbers will be performed by Superior Ballroom Dance Studio professionals as well as ballroom dancers from the Twin Cities. The Emmy Award winner Randall Designs from Dancing with the Stars takes charge of the performers’ costuming. The dinner show will be followed by a group dance class and social dancing until the evening ends.
Superior Ballroom Dance has been grooving for two years, first established at 298 Superior Street with an 850 sq ft area with about 20 student and 2 teachers. Today, it has 6 teachers and over 10 students and is holding its dancing classes in a ballroom thrice bigger than their old studio: the Norway Hall building. This is in addition to the fact that a ballroom artist, choreographer and coach of world class caliber such as Marius Olzszewski has been coming up to Duluth every month to train the studio’s ballroom enthusiasts despite his hectic schedule.
Marius, a coach to multiple world champions and a choreographer for DWTS and SYTYCD Poland, is helping the students and professionals in Superior Ballroom Dance to prepare for their 2nd Anniversary show. Marius will be back in Duluth in the April 9th and 10th to polish the numbers for the show. Anna Kuzel, the studio’s owner and visionary, says, “He is a true artist and ballroom genius and our studio could not have grown so much without him. We are lucky to have this quality of dancers in Duluth.”
Superior Ballroom Dance Studio hosts two dances a month and 2 black tie galas a year to further hone its students’ skills by exposing them in a social dance environment. The proceeds for this year’s anniversary gala will be for the benefit of its Kevin E. Johnson’s Dance for Life Scholarship Fund.
